School year, not January-to-December
An academic calendar follows the classroom year. In much of the United States that span is August through July. This template draws those twelve months on one sheet and titles the page as an academic year. The year control is the year that contains August. If you set 2026, the sheet runs August 2026 through July 2027.
The overview is for mapping terms, breaks, and big deadlines. It is not a substitute for a district calendar. Start and end dates for a given school still come from that school. The printable page only gives you a dated grid in academic order.
Monday start is the default on this type because many classroom planners treat Monday as the first workday. Sunday start remains available. Landscape paper keeps the twelve mini months readable. A teacher classroom month is a different tool: one month with subject lines, not the whole school year.
If you need writing room for a single term month, print that month from the monthly template after you have the overview on the wall. The academic versus calendar year guide explains the two spans in longer form.
Holiday marks, when enabled, still use civil U.S. dates. They will not list Easter, spring break, or a local in-service day unless those happen to fall on a civil holiday already in the optional list.
