The count uses the Gregorian calendar and ignores clock time. January 1 to January 2 is one day. The same date in both fields is zero days. Leap-year February 29 is included when it exists.
This is not a business-day calculator. It does not skip weekends or holidays. If you need a printed span, set the generator to the months that contain both dates after you know the length.
